Typical meals available in the evening at Bottom of Page Food and Drink is the primary reason that the Greyhound is such a busy Inn. There is an extensive menu of no nonsense freshly prepared dishes, including a variety of interesting, vegetarian choices. All of our meat dishes are produced using only the best available locally bred and reared animals. In the Majority of cases we purchase our beef and lamb direct from local farmers at Penrith Auction Mart, where it is taken for slaughter and maturing at Wigton abattoir then cut up by hand on our premises. 80% of our Lamb is farmed by 'farmer of the year' and 2007 Christmas fat stock winners Mr. E. Bindloss and Sons at Shap Abbey. You can either eat in the cosy bar, with its open fireplace, our back bar with larger tables, or enjoy your meal in one of our two restaurants. We are able to cater for parties and small functions up to 30 in the whinfel room or up to 50 in the main restaurant. The Greyhound offers its guests a wide selection of carefully chosen wines, 8 real ales, lager's and spirits to either compliment their meal or just to enjoy in the pleasant surroundings. We are very proud of the fact that we have been named as Westmorland branch CAMRA pub of the year two years on the trot. Its is no coincidence that the Greyhound has an excellent reputation for high quality meals as both Derrick and Keith spent over 12 years teaching Hospitality and Catering at Further Education College's and prior to that many years working in top quality eating establishments.
